3 things to do during your visitation time

When kids are involved in a divorce, priorities change. They become one of the main concerns of the process, and parents want what’s best for them. If you and your spouse agreed on a visitation schedule, you should use your time to connect with your kids for a healthy relationship.

Below are three things you can do during your visitation time.

Make friends in your neighborhood

You should make your new home comfortable for your kids. They should feel like they are coming home, not “visiting” you. The best way to do this is to help them have other connections in your neighborhood.

Thus, you can ask a neighbor you’ve become friends with who has children to let them visit when yours are around.

You should introduce yourself to parents in the neighborhood and let them know you have kids. This way, they can invite you to events like birthday parties. It can be fun for your kids to have people to play with when they come around.

Invite extended family

Your kids need to maintain relationships with extended family. For this reason, consider inviting one or two relatives from your side when the kids are around. Let them have fun with their cousins, laugh at jokes from their aunties or ask grandpa questions.

Relax and talk

Although activities are fun and help you connect with your kids, catching up with them is necessary. You need to learn what’s going on with them at school or with their friends. You can also ask them to come with homework so you can help. Further, you can watch a movie or play video games.

Your visitation schedule is integral to your relationship with your kids. You should obtain more information about it to get quality time with them.
